British tennis star Emma Raducanu ends this year's campaign and plans to retain trainer into the 2026 season.

Emma Raducanu advanced to round three in three out of four Grand Slam events in the current campaign.

Emma Raducanu from Great Britain will not compete in the last two tournaments in 2025 because of the illness she has been fighting for the last week and a half.

At 22 years old was scheduled to compete in Tokyo and Hong Kong but has decided to fly home to rest and recuperate prior to beginning her preparations for 2026.

Those preparations are set to feature coach Francisco Roig, as the pair have agreed to work together in 2026.

The tennis professional required blood pressure checks during her first-round match versus Ann Li in Wuhan last week and stopped playing when trailing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

She again required medical attention at the recent Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in three sets to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in the opening round.

Her movement was far from freely in the final set in the match with Zhu because of a lower back issue that has troubled her during parts of the season.

Those results signaled a promising season, in which the player advanced into the world's top 30 after more than three years since her previous ranking, concluded with three straight losses.

She held three match points prior to falling to Jessica Pegula in the third round in the Beijing tournament last month.

Raducanu won 28 matches this year and advanced to the semis in Washington, but her standout performance was at March's Miami Open.

Ranked first in Britain reached the quarter-finals of a premier WTA event, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed during the tournament then falling in a three-set match to the world number four Pegula.

Her coach was Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in ahead of the US Open.

The first plan with Rafael Nadal's former coach was for the remainder of the year but the partnership will continue, with a training block pencilled in late this year.

The athlete revealed that her three-day trial with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as the meeting was kept under wraps.

She came very close to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at the first competition with Roig in Cincinnati during August.

The coach also accompanied Raducanu in New York, where she reached the third round prior to losing to Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
