Nigel Farage Accuses Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues
Nigel Farage has asserted that educators would initiate walkouts shortly after a Reform UK election victory, accusing them of “harming young minds” by instructing students that black pupils are victims and Caucasian students are perpetrators.
During an event for a private US Christian college, Farage outlined his viewpoint on the UK education system, claiming that the “Marxist left” had “now in control of our education system”.
“I expect a walkout by educators very quickly after winning the next general election,” Farage commented in response to questions.
“They are poisoning our kids. They are telling them to be ashamed of their country. They inform an eight-year-old black child that he is a victim and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is an oppressor. They are dividing us, not uniting us. They promote this harmful mindset.”
In response to these assertions, Daniel Kebede rejected the notion that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “absurd”. Kebede noted that any strikes must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether Reform would attack these right after taking office.
“The politician has crafted his political career on dog-whistle politics and currently, like Trump, he is lining up teachers and their unions for a conflict,” the union leader said.
“This is highly reckless. I don’t – and nor does my union – advocate such divisive theories as he claims … If he were to lead the government he would undermine state services, including education … and he would be a disaster for students and learning.”
Reform, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has provided limited specifics on its educational plans and seems not to have appointed an education spokesperson.
Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks indicated the group would reform the educational framework. Farage declared: “We have got a massive job with schooling – absolutely herculean. And, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it requires years, years to turn this around.”
He stated that gen Z was more open to critical thinking, but older youth were “completely lost”.
Paying tribute to Charlie Kirk, Farage said: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and they should decide for themselves as opposed to what’s happening now where one is virtuous and one is evil. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”
The party has conflicted with a major educators’ organization, after the union leader labeled them “far right and racist” and described the leader as “a cheap imitation”.
Farage has accused the union head with being “a self-declared Marxist” … an individual intent that our children should be poisoned at school, their minds should be poisoned regarding national issues” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash teenagers against Reform.
Roughly a million individuals are employed in education in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The major education union has about 450,000 members.
Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 caused widespread disruption in educational institutions and extensive missed instruction for students.
At the US event, Farage also vowed to promote the digital courses of the Christian college in the UK. He said such groups were “part of the fightback”, noting: “I am serious. I’ll assist attract vast numbers of youth to your online courses. I pledge this tonight and I’ll do that.”
The institution, a religious educational establishment, offers free courses. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is necessary for personal happiness and to perpetuate the blessings of freedom. The college furnishes these excellent programs for free to every interested learner.”
