President Trump Invites Relatives of Shot National Guard Soldiers to the White House

President Trump revealed on the weekend that he has invited the loved ones of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the executive mansion.

He added that he spoke to her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Background on the Heartbreaking Shooting

Specialist Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a violent incident on last Wednesday in DC.

Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in grave state.

Gatherings across the state have occurred in their remembrance.

Presidential Offer

The president stated he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a tough thing, come to the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump told the press. “And similarly with him, recover or not.”

Public Reaction

Mourners assembled over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.

Both they had been serving with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to aid public safety in Washington DC.

Honoring the Soldier

“Sarah was the type of pupil that instructors hoped for. She behaved with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that inspired those around her,” Hankins, the head of her alma mater, told the Associated Press. “She was kind, caring and always willing to help others.”

Funeral plans for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Steps and Government Adjustments

Law enforcement have indicted a 29-year-old Afghan national with one count of murder and charges of attempted murder while armed.

The tragedy prompted the administration to halt asylum applications and temporarily stop issuing visas to possessors of travel documents.

Status of Andrew Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a native of the city, began his service in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, per the news agency.

He remains under medical supervision and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s leader the governor said on television.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi told Fox News Sunday that she planned to speak to the family.

Legacy of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a MP with distinction, as stated by the state guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she definitely had fortitude,” the governor addressed the crowd at the vigil. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has created a legacy that’s going to endure.”
