The tennis star celebrating a point
The Belarusian player finished the year with an impressive 23-3 Grand Slam match record.

World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second consecutive season.

The 27-year-old won four tournament victories – the most on tour – which included successfully defending the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth Grand Slam singles championship.

A Season of Dominance

Over the course of the tour, Sabalenka competed in a tour-best nine championship matches, with losses coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The Belarusian also claimed victory at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open in May. She spent the whole season as the top-ranked player, ending 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.

In July, she became the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams in 2015.

Record-Breaking Statistics

Sabalenka ended the competitive year with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and collected a record eleven million pounds in prize money.

She received nearly 80% of the votes submitted by international tennis media.

Later this month, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "elevate women's tennis to a higher level".
