The beloved police drama Line of Duty is officially returning for its 7th season, announced by the BBC.

A brand new six-episode season written by the show's creator starts production in Belfast in the coming months, as confirmed by the production team.

The actress expressed excitement about the return, saying she was "thrilled" about the series' return. Adrian Dunbar remarked, "What a joy it is to know that the Three Amigos will be reuniting together next year."

The last season concluded in recent years with a finale that attracted over 17 million audience members. Speculation about a new season have been widespread for some time, but official word only arrived recently.

Series seven will open with AC-12 no longer existing and rebranded as the new police oversight body, as revealed by production details.
