This young athlete boasts substantial social media following
Kai Trump can count on plenty of well-known backers when she makes her first LPGA appearance on Thursday.
The 18-year-old athlete, who is related to a former US president, was granted a special exemption to participate at the Annika competition in Florida.
The former president, an avid golfer, possesses multiple international courses and regularly plays against his granddaughter.
"He's fairly competent. I shouldn't elaborate but we play tight competitions," she mentioned.
The golfer shared that her grandfather, unable to come, told her: "Simply stay calm."
"My grandpa basically advised me to play and enjoy myself," she added.
"To me, he's simply a normal grandpa. He can't make it this weekend. He's busy with world affairs, so he's quite busy."
As an amateur, the golfer has participated in only three events in 2024 and has the 461st position in the American Junior Golf Association listings.
However she can receive tips from 15-time major champion, in a relationship with Kai's mother.
"He is the top athlete in the world," the young golfer said.
"Furthermore, he's a more impressive human being. He suggested me to play, enjoy myself, following the flow."
Kai will face some of most prominent players in the sport at the competition, including world number two Nelly Korda, British golfer Hull, professional Thompson and 2023 champion champion Vu.
The LPGA commented that Kai's presence exposes the sport to wider groups, particularly reaching youth audiences.
The young star has millions of followers and recently launched her own fashion and living brand.
The competition starts at 5:30 PM GMT.
